Chinese New Year was a month ago, but this multimedia drawing has taken a long time. I am especially partial to the year of the dragon in part because I love the images, a favorite childhood poem was about a cowardly dragon and especially because Dick was born in the year of the dragon. I am so pleased to have my very own version now. Of course you may find many scenes here. Before he knew its name, Dick first saw a tidal wave. I know my designs bring many water images to mind. I really enjoyed doing the Scribbler drawings yesterday, but as much as I liked them, they did not feel so personal as these drawings. This is one of my larger, 16 x 20 inch pieces done on a watercolor block. A small one is in the works. As always, click on the image to see it larger.
Fantastic work Jean, I love it! I can see the dragon dancing around, curving and curling! Just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the "scribbler" drawings not feeling as personal as these do, I agree, that is why I am thinking about printing some off and working with them and enhancing them by hand. It's just a thought, and I don't know if it will work out or not, but I am going to try it. :) I've recently been hanging out at an art forum I found on-line, and there is one artist that does abstracts that are completely computer generated... they are very interesting. Here is the link to the forum. http://www.wetcanvas.com
Well, wouldn't cha know I'm out of toner for my printer. Go figure. Oh well, I'll have to wait to experiment. :)
ReplyDeleteNeat drawing, Jean! The colors in this one work together especially well. The movement in this is also wonderful.
ReplyDeleteAnother great piece of work...must agree with Dick I saw a tidal wave before a dragon. Great colors and motion for your Year of the Dragon drawing.
ReplyDeleteI´ve always thought your mental landscapes had an Oriental flavour and this is no exception. And, yes, it does have water images but it´s also extremely windy! I feel breathless just looking at all the motion it conjures up. It´s quite a whirlpool. Wonderful. I could get quite dizzy just looking at it!
