Drawing #47 - Rough Beast
Back at 12 x 16 inches, the latest drawing has been in the works a long time. It incorporates photo and photo album paper from an old album someone rescued from the trash. The "beast" appeared early and has always had the poem lines running through my head from "The Second Coming" by William Butler Yeats:
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
Makes for interesting speculation on the origin of my ideas. Click on the image to see it larger, but imagine it at full size.
Maybe my psyche just doesn't want to see beasts, I do see a horse... but it doesn't look beastly. I like the colors you chose for this, and the interesting scraps from the photo album. Wonderful artwork! :)
ReplyDeleteThat poem has always given me the shivers and so does your mental landscape. I can see all kinds of horrors in this mechanical looking beast, mostly sharp and lethal looking. Talk about "anarchy is leased upon the world". This is it.
