Drawing #28 - Lily Grew

The bit of paper in this multimedia drawing really says "lil'y grew El'len sev'en ty" but it seemed to grow and develop as I worked, so the name of "Lily Grew" feels apt. The sequence I followed was a little different this time, starting with and defining the first shapes with paint. Every time I do feel these are mental landscapes with the details emerging from unknown depths. This is the small sketchbook size but I have a larger drawing in the works.

  1. Fabulous! I love it! The use of the paint first to define some shapes really worked well. I like your color choices, and really think this turned out great! You should be very happy with this one! Looking forward to seeing your larger work in progress. :)

  2. This one is quite fascinating, there are so many things to see in it. Great color and color shapes, this method seems to work well for you.

  3. I always feel that your decorative landscapes have a hidden meaning and the little bit of printed paper in this one is particularly cryptic and just adds to the puzzle. The more I look at this the more I feel that it´s rushing away from me. All those floral swirls seem to be in constant motion. As for the swan I see, it appears to be taking flight as I look at it. The entire drawing has such an Oriental feel, it´s like an illustration for a haiku poem. Thought provoking and beautiful as always.

  4. Another interesting sketch using a different technique. I see a tree trunk on the right side with small branches bursting out the top...reminds me of the tree in Children's Hospital where my grandson is right now otherwise I might have seen a "tree". The rest of the colors used look like many paths up and down and all around with many interesting sights to see along the way.
