Blue Jay Makes a Touch of Blue

Yesterday late in the afternoon it was gray, threatening rain. The foliage on some of the tree nearly glowed in the low light but bare branches showed off the feathers of a blue jay. I was really intrigues with the patterns it made and got one shot even though it was a small image of the bird.

  1. Your photo makes me think of the pen designs you have been drawing. Those branches really do make an interesting design with the foliage and blue jay. Neat shot!

  2. Very nice page Jean! I see Blue Jays in my back yard often, but I never seem to have my camera handy or if I do, they don't seem to want to pose for me :)

I agree with Theta, the branches and foliage make me think of your pen drawings. :)

  3. I really hadn't seen the similarity to my drawings until you both mentioned it, but I have to agree. And it really was that design that drew me to the scene. Good to have other eyes looking!

  4. Tiny as he is he still makes such a lovely splash of colour against this low key page that the eye is drawn straight to him. What an exotic looking fellow he is, at least to my European eyes!

  5. I haven't seen a blue jay in a great while until a few weeks ago. He was gone by the time I got my camera. I later saw him scaring off all the other birds from the bird bath, but missed that photo, too! Love the contrast of the barren limbs and the green and yellow foliage!
