I love spending a day in the prairies in northern Oklahoma in Osage County and the Osage Nation. This fall we didn't see as many birds as some times and the vegetation was showing signs of the overly hot and dry summer just past. There was some rain though and there was some bloom of wildflowers. Time spent there is always special and we had a lovely day. I used photos and thoughts from that day for two scrapbooking challenges. One was to use at least seven of ten items, the word "Thankful" required. I finished with eight of them and a layout on the American bison or buffalo. The October camera challenge asks for a collage and page with a collection of photos that could be one day, week, year, or other reason for a series. I have lots of other photos from Oklahoma, but for now I've only used those from our one day in the Osage.

I particularly like your buffalo page and especially the sentiment expressed in it. It´s so sad to think that these magnificent animals which once roamed the prairies were practically driven to extinction - as were many other creatures - during the 19th century. What vandals the Victorians were!
ReplyDeleteI like this almost monochrome page enlivened by the touches of red and teal. It provides quite a contrast to your floral, bird, and heritage LOs as it´s not often you create a page around a subject which has no petals, wings or intricate family tree!
Both of your pages turned out great. Love the page with the buffalo, using the sepia tones and the full color photo in your composition the way you did was brilliant. I love the way you cut out or masked the color photo. On the other page, I love the butterfly in the middle! What a great shot! and the leafless tree photo is fabulous... Love all the purple in the wildflowers too! Great photos and pages to remember your day in the Osage!
