The city greenhouse has such wonderful things on display and in the winter the humid heat and exotic blossoms are really a way to brighten these dismal winter days. In December we visited very briefly and you've already seen some of the poinsettias on display. Among them were some other lovely flowers and I loved a photo of a bird-of-paradise. A January color challenge gave me the push to get it onto a page. Given all the new snow that fell today with more to follow, it was really nice to play with these pretty colors.

How beautiful this flower is and how well-named. I can imagine why it would particularly appeal to you, Jean. And such a lovely setting too. No dull grey and hardly a blue in sight. Love the simple little flower and its matching paper but that gorgeous bird of paradise takes centre stage.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful page for the wonderful photo you got of the Bird of Paradise! Nice to see this lovely tropical flower on a snowy day like today! My Dad lives about a mile away from me, and today when he called to ask if we had gotten any snow, I told him, no, it's sunny, and 80 degrees... the palm trees are swaying! He told me to "dream on!" Your page fits nicely with my dream! :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a Bird of Paradise...very lovely and so looks like a fancy and very proud bird. Makes me think of the song with the line in it, "may the bird of paradise fly up you nose"...something that hasn't come to mind in a really long time! Like how all your blocks of paper and elements really bring out the colors in the flower!
