Poinsettia Display

The city greenhouse has a spectacular display of poinsettias every year. I love to see them and always want to photograph poinsettias looking lush, lovely and festive. The grounds around the greenhouse are one of our afternoon stops on the Christmas Bird Count where we are especially looking for mockingbirds. We also like to pop into the building for their heated rest rooms. This year I also made a brief stop to see the flowers, but had to wait for my lens to clear up from the fog it immediately developed coming into the humid warmth from the icy outdoors.

  1. They really are the most beautiful winter blooms and I particularly like the white ones which are so difficult to come by over here. As for the mocking birds you mention, they´re even scarcer. All I know about them is from reading the Harper Lee novel that tells you not to kill them. As if anyone would...Thank you for using my garden kit for your lovely page.

  2. Oh Jean, this is gorgeous. Like the velum covering over the main photo...really makes the white poinsettia pop! And the touches of gold are perfect to accent the golden centers of the poinsettia.

I don't know about there, but it's against the law to kill a mockingbird in Texas as it is our state bird!
