Deb's zen doodles reminded me that we had discussed them in the last session of collage journaling classes I took. My teacher has a passion for lettering, so we were looking at simple division of space to provide opportunities for uniquely shaped text. I couldn't just leave it at that, so I worked on a new doodle. It is about 3 inches across and I lettered a lot of it, going back into the lettering with solid shapes. The rest is just real doodles. I'm sure Helen will quickly see at least one threatening creature! (at least I do.)
Thanks so much for all the ideas you're passing along, Deb. It is fun to watch and gives me a little push too. Amazing how quickly you did so many as this one was done over several times, which probably shows.
Oh Jean! I LOVE your zendoodle! I really like the idea of using "journaling" in it! What a cool idea! I did use some words in one of my doodles, but I didn't think of actually using journaling, which would be great for for art journal! I will have to implement that into my next zendoodle, or debdoodle as Helen said I should call mine from now on! I don't know about threatening creatures, but I see a roman column and pillar in there! Which gives me a cool idea for a frame for my next doodle!
ReplyDeleteNo threatening creatures lurk in this, Jean! Thank you for that. I have demons enough in my psyche already without you adding to them. What I CAN see though are a puffin, a fish and a stringed instrument. I wonder if the first and last of these were intentional or if only I can see them because I associate such images with the artist. I can also make out some letters but others are probably so cleverly disguised only you know where they are.
ReplyDeleteSince this is a Zendoodle inspired by a Debdoodle I think a Jeandoodle would be in order as yours has a twist all your own.
I'm disappointed that I wound up with Custard the Dragon instead of something fierce. (That was a favorite childhood poem for me.) I think the puffin is what I hoped was at least an iguana if not a dragon. Thanks for looking at my "Jeandoodle"!
ReplyDeleteNow that I have looked at this Jeandoodle again, I definitely see one of those mean old talking trees from the Wizard of Oz that used to scare the beegeebees out of me when I was a kid! They were ALMOST as scarey as that mean ol' witch and the fire face thing the wizard used!
ReplyDeleteWow...not sure how I missed this. These doodles are amazing, but not sure I have the patience to complete one. Great job, Jean!
