I was itching to use the gorgeous red flowers in Helen's freebie. I wanted them with a black and white photo but didn't expect I would choose a winter scene. Somehow it makes it seem even more that we are looking back in time. I also had it in mind to make use of my doodle. The photo is of my mother and my father's car before they were married. It was early 1930 and she was nineteen.

Lovely, Jean! The flowers in this context do have a very vintage look, especially the recoloured hibiscus in the corner and I love the ladybird climbing up the frame. Your doodle looks quite amazing as a backdrop like a piece of art deco lace. It also coordinates beautifully with one of the background papers. Love this use of both the kit and the freebie.
ReplyDeleteHi, Jean! I can't believe I found you and Helen and Deb and Lujuana - you are doing some beautiful layouts!!!

Jean, what a fantastic page! I love what you did with your doodle and the freebies and kit from Helen! Very creative page, and perfect to show off the wonderful photo of your Mom (and Dad's car). This really turned out great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome photo...so glad it was a trend of sorts to have photos taken in front of cars back then. We don't do that these days and aren't documenting the cars of our era. Perfect frame to go with you LO. Helen's papers worked well with you drawing. And I love the contract between the page and those gorgeous flowers!
